WELCOME TO THE 2011-2012 CONCERT SEASON!
The 23rd season of the Chamber Music Society, of Fort Worth will present an outstanding series of concerts featuring truly remarkable guest artists.
The opening concert on September 10 will feature pianist ANTONIO POMPA-BALDI, a top prize winner at the 1998 Marguerite Long-Jacques Thibaud Competition of Paris, France. Antonio also won a silver medal at the 2001 Cliburn Competition, as well as the award for the Best Performance of a New Work.
Praised by the Wall Street Journal as “a most mature and sensitive pianist,” Chinese-born DI WU continues to uphold her enviable reputation as an elegant and exciting musician. A finalist and winner of the coveted Internet Audience Award in the 2009 Cliburn Competition, we look forward to her debut with the Chamber Music Society on October 22.
On November 12 ALESSIO BAX will return for his fifth concert with us. A first prize winner at the 2000 Leeds Competition, Alessio was awarded an Avery Fisher Career Grant in 2009, one of the most prestigious prizes in classical music. He joined Lincoln Center’s Chamber Music Society Two residency program for outstanding artists for three seasons which began in 2009.
On January 7 our All Mozart & Schubert New Year’s Celebration Concert will feature TAMÁS UNGÁR. Tamás has earned worldwide acclaim for his powerful performances and innovative programming. As the force behind TCU’s Piano Texas, he maintains a class of international piano students who consistently receive prizes in national and international competitions, and perform in such music centers as Alice Tully Hall and Carnegie Recital Hall.
An artist whose work has been described by a New York Times critic as “powerful” and “sweetly poetic,” JON NAKAMATSU, the 1997 Cliburn gold medal winner and one of the most sought-after pianists of his generation, returns on February 11. Jon and his duo partner, clarinetist Jon Manasse, serve as Artistic Directors of the Cape Cod Chamber Music Festival.
GUSTAVO ROMERO, performing on March 10, has a “stellar reputation for both the technical brilliance and interpretive depth of his playing, as well as his commitment to in-depth exploration of individual composers.” In 2004 Dallas radio station WRR selected one of his concerts as the best performance of the year. Gustavo currently serves as Professor of Piano at the University of North Texas.
NAIDA COLE, hailed as “a dazzling star” by Gramophone Magazine, will be the guest artist on March 31. Performing regularly in major halls around the world, she has quickly established a reputation as an individual artist with her own unique style. Naida has performed regularly with Gidon Kremer as a duo including repeat dates at Carnegie Hall.
