Chamber
Music Society of Fort Worth
WELCOME TO THE 2010-2011 CONCERT SEASON!
As we begin our 22nd season, we present an outstanding group of concerts featuring a truly remarkable group of guest artists.
Our opening concert on October 2 will feature pianist LUCILLE CHUNG who is
returning after her exciting debut last year. Born in Montréal, Canadian pianist
Lucille Chung has been acclaimed for her “stylish and refined performances” by Gramophone magazine. We’re so happy she is playing with us again this
year.
GUSTAVO ROMERO is making his debut with the Chamber Music Society.
How lucky that he teaches in Denton and is available to us here in Fort Worth.
Gustavo makes beautiful music wherever he goes and has been described
as a “piano phenomenon who radiates an aura of warmth and candor.” We
are so happy Gustavo is joining our chamber music ensemble.
Our all-time favorite, JON NAKAMATSU, the 1997 Cliburn gold medalist,
returns on December 11. Called “a poet of the keyboard,” Jon has developed a
widespread group of audiences all over the world but he likes our friendliness
and especially the high quality of our musical performances, and he comes
back every year to our great pride and joy. We look forward to Jon’s visit.
GLORIA LIN will be guest artist at our All Mozart New Year Celebration on
January 8. A TCU faculty member, Gloria is co-founder of the Lin/Castro-Balbi
Duo with cellist Jesús Castro-Balbi. She played with us last year and we are
so happy she is returning for our All Mozart Concert.
JEFFREY SWANN, a newcomer to our concert series but not a newcomer
to Fort Worth, will be debuting with us on February 26 in a stunning program
of Beethoven, Strauss and Fauré. Come extend a warm welcome to Jeffreyand you will be thrilled you did. Did you know that Jeffrey’s mom is from Fort
Worth?
We are so happy that ALEXANDER MOUTOUZKINE, “a musician of the
first order,” will return to us again on March 12. Winning top prizes since the
age of 16, he just came in second in the Naumberg Music Competition in
New York City. So happy to have “Sasha” back with us again as part of our
chamber music family.
And speaking of family, on April 23 we will feature ALESIO BAX in his
fourth concert with us playing a wonderful concert of Szymanowski, Ravel
and Rachmaninov. A first prize winner at the 2000 Leeds Competition, Alessio
will always be “numero uno” in our hearts. Another great winner!
Now I’ve told you about the guest artists. Please look at our brochure to get a feel for the high quality of music and performances. We’re very proud of what is probably our very finest season and look forward to enjoying it with you!
Please buy season tickets, and prepare to enjoy!
